My poetry book is 8x5 inches for example . I thought I’d share for anyone wanting to self publish, but not sure how to create the manuscript .

The templates are for books with around 200 pages. My book is that size (for example).

I made a promise to myself that this would be the year that I stop letting the opinions of others lead so much of what I do, what I wear, how I choose to express myself and I already feel freer. As an artist , opinions are important but they should never be optimum. How we choose to dress, express, and create is sacred to our soul . The minute we allow ourselves to be bound by the thoughts and opinions of others is the minute we lose our precious individuality. It’s the moment we betray our own spark .

Freedom of expression is the element that keeps my flame burning, the day I started losing that is the day I started losing myself and I’ll never allow anything or anyone to take that away from me again.

As a creative, everything we do is art.

I have been swept through the river, flung through the air, and twisted in its winds. God teaches me lessons through hardship and every now and then I am gifted the grace of knowledgeable peace.

An ode to dark skin & all that it carries 🤎

If you’re Black or from a certain culture. You most likely grew up with colorism lingering in the depths of most of your experiences in life. I remember growing up and being told to stay out of the sun , for fear that my skin may get darker. I remember being in high school when people started finally educating themselves on colorism and the dangers & lies it carries. I remember worn we started to embrace the beauty and power that is blackness. Embracing the sun and its rays. I felt more beautiful with each shade of brown I gained in the summer. I stopped taking on a dreadful mentality that is counterproductive and rooted in racism. I felt free. This is the way that God made his first people. We are evolutionary experts in survival and beauty. Why would I not be proud? I wear this skin like an armor, a symbol, a privilege & anything else I have no time for.

Black is beautiful. Dark skin is too.
